The Air Jordan 1 Mid ''Phoenix Suns'' was released in 2013 as part of the Formidable Foes set. The collection honors some of the teams Jordan faced, and often defeated, during the height of his career. The ''Phoenix Suns'' colorway is a tribute to Charles Barkley leading his team against the Chicago Bulls in the 1993 NBA Finals. Although Barkley was crowned MVP that season, he was unable to beat Jordan and company, ultimately losing in Game 6. Even so, this version of the AJ1 honors that effort with a premium leather design in bright orange and court purple.
